A Cold and Distant Memory
In the balkanized United States of 2053, whites, blacks and Hispanics have their own sections, as do senior citizens and the young. There is a growing divide between the genetically enhanced "genrich" humans and the "genpoor" populations. Robots are used as criminal enforcers. Clinics can instill or erash memories. Bio-human synthetics give the seven deadly sins a new wrinkle. But one thing hasn't changed - murder remains a staple of human life. With this balkanized America as the backdrop, private detective Jason Dugan searches for a missing aide to a U.S. Senator. But the beautiful aide has left several dead bodies in her wake and has antagonized lethal lobbying groups. Dugan must sort through the human wreckage in a society drenched in evil to find not only the aide, but a degree of grace and hope.
